2K Primer
Buy automotive primer
Car primer is one of the most important aspects in car repair. Whether you’re spraying car paint or performing spot repair, you will need to use primer paint at some point. Auto primer generally refers to a paint layer that’s usually applied to freshly sanded or bare metal surfaces.
The importance of primer paint
Just like car spray paint, primer paint can be applied with a paint spray gun. Some people underestimate the importance of using car primer during car repair. Without auto primer as a buffer, car paint will lead to flaking, peeling and eventually rust. Primer paint is important for a number of reasons
- Good filling power
- Helps car spray paint to adhere on bare metal
- Some are anti corrosive and prevent rust (epoxy)
2K paint primer in spray can
We sell a wide range of 2K epoxy and wash primers. These spray cans consist of a (SprayMax) 2-component technology, paint primer and catalyst (paint hardener or activator) in one spray paint can. The catalyst is integrated in a separate container. The paint hardener is activated with a push of the red button which allows the car paint to be mixed with each other. Before activating, make sure you shake the aerosol vigorously for 2 minutes. Please note that it is important to hear the mixing balls in the spray. The pot life varies depending on the ambient temperature, but is mostly 24 hours after activation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is primer spray paint?
What do you use primer spray paint for?
How long should primer dry?
Do you need to sand primer
Once the primer is dry, you need to sand it. Sanding the primer smooths the surface and lightly roughens the primer layer. This helps the color car paint or 2K paint adhere better to the primer. If you don’t sand the primer, the paint will not adhere as well to the base coat.
Is primer necessary to use?
Basically, primer is necessary to ensure the paint adheres to the surface according to the RAL number. However, if you're spraying this paint over existing paint that is already in good condition, it is not necessary to use a primer. If you're unsure whether a bonding primer is needed, we always recommend using it! Sand off any loose paint first and apply a primer for the best adhesion and durability of the spray paint.
Which color primer should I use?
For some car paint colors, it's important to use the right color primer. In this case, grey primer is the most commonly chosen color for the base coat.
Do you need primer over rust converter?
No, no primer is needed over a rust converter. As the name suggests, it encapsulates and transforms the rust into a primer-like layer, preventing further rusting of the surface. You can directly apply car paint, 2K paint, or a coating over a rust converter.
Do you use filler or primer first?
Primer ensures the adhesion of the color paint you want to spray. For this reason, you apply filler first and then primer, so that the color paint adheres properly to the primer.
