PPG DP4000 2K Primer Dark Grey SG07

PPG DP4000 2K Primer Dark Grey SG07 is an advanced primer that makes sanding a thing of the past. Thanks to this special auto primer, it is possible to spray directly on new factory substrates without prior sanding of the electrocoat. This preserves the anti-corrosion properties of the electrocoat. Because the panels do not have to be sanded, this results in savings in labor time.

Direct to metal

DP4000 DTM primer can be applied directly to untreated metal without the need for an etch primer. This brings several important advantages:

  1. By eliminating the need for an etch primer, fewer materials are required.
  2. Skipping the application of etch primer makes the painting process more efficient.
  3. Modern DTM primer has excellent adhesion.
  4. The primer car helps maintain the corrosion resistant properties of the metal.
  5. Chances of mistakes are reduced.

Auto primer

A car primer is a primer, the first layer of paint applied after the surface has been sanded and prepared with putty. A car primer's main function is to adhere to the surface and create a solid base for the primer surfacer. The main difference between an auto primer and a primer surfacer lies in their filling properties. While an auto primer primarily acts as a bonding agent and corrosion protection, a primer surfacer focuses more on improving the aesthetics of the surface by smoothing and camouflaging minor imperfections.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to sand primer

Once the primer is dry, you need to sand it. Sanding the primer smooths the surface and lightly roughens the primer layer. This helps the color car paint or 2K paint adhere better to the primer. If you don’t sand the primer, the paint will not adhere as well to the base coat.
