Clear Coat

Clear Coat is a transparent varnish sprayed over automotive paint to protect the color. This is why a clear coat is also called a varnish or clear coat. Because the clear coat is clear, the color of car paint will not discolor. In addition to ultimate protection, the clear coat determines the gloss level of the color underneath. You therefore have the choice of a clearcoat with high gloss, matt and silk gloss effect. At CROP you can buy professional clear coat in:

  • Clear Coat in aerosol
  • Clear Coat in can
  • Clear Coat in touch-up pen

Order your clear coat before 10 p.m. and receive it the next day!

Clear coat in 3 gloss levels

Clear coat determines the gloss of the color over which you apply the varnish. If you spray a high gloss clear coat, then the color will have a fantastic gloss effect. A satin clear coat has 50% gloss which is why it is also called silk matt. A clear coat matte creates an exclusive look where the color gets a matte lacquer effect. At Nonpaints.com you can choose any gloss level for the clear coat you want in both aerosol and can.

  • Clear coat high gloss
  • Clear coat matte
  • Clear coat satin
  • Air drying clear coat

Clear Coat in 2K and 1K

At CROP you can order clear coat in 2K and 1K. Each clear coat has its properties and advantages. Do you want a clear coat that provides maximum protection of the car color? Then go for a 2K clear coat! Do you prefer a varnish that is easy and quick to use? Then go for a 1K clear coat. Besides two different quality you can choose online from an aerosol clear coat, a clear coat pen and professional clear coat in a can for your paint sprayer.

2K clear coat

2K clear coat is a clear coat that consists of 2 components. The two components are the clear coat and hardener, also called activator. By mixing the hardener into the clear coat, the varnish becomes incredibly hard and the clear coat is scratch resistant. In addition, a 2K clear coat is resistant to UV sunlight, gasoline, diesel, brake fluid, oil, acids and other chemical liquids. This makes a 2K clear coat the best to use on a car because it protects the color from stone chips, discoloration, yellowing, scratches, salt and dirt.

1K clear coat

1K clear coat is a traditional varnish that dries quickly and is easy to apply. This clear coat consists of one component so you do not need to mix it specially. The advantage of a fast-drying clear coat is that the risk of dust and dirt is minimal, where you can easily spray the clear coat using a spray can or paint sprayer.

Clear Coat car, how do you use it?

Are you asking yourself, a clear coat for car, how do you use it? Thanks to our generation long experience as car paint experts, we are happy to explain to you, how to use clear coat on the car to get the best result. Whether you want to spray the clear coat on the car with a spray can or prefer to use a paint sprayer to spray the clear coat, there are some tips when using clear coat on the car that you should always apply for professional results. Read our 5 tips below.

  • Tip 1: Good preparation is half the battle. Before you start using clearcoat on the car, the surface must be smooth, clean, grease-free and dust-free. If you do this properly, it will save a lot of time later in the process on repair work.
  • Tip 2: Always work in an area that is windless, dust-free and clean. A clear coat is clear transparent which makes its use very critical. A well-ventilated room free of wind, dust and dirt will result in better results.
  • Tip 3: Apply thin coats during use. A clearcoat used in evenly thin layers dries tighter, smoother and more beautiful. Using thin layers of clearcoat also prevents sags!
  • Tip 4: Make sure the spray distance is between 15 and 20cm from the object for best results. If you spray too close, it can quickly become too thick. If you use the varnish too far away, it will create a distribution that is uneven. In short, use the right distance!
  • Tip 5: Last but not least, maintain a pause between coats of clear coat. Give the clear coat enough time to evaporate and dry before applying another coat of clear coat. This will give you better adhesion and it will dry nicer.

How many coats of clear coat do you spray?

As car paint specialists, we recommend at least 2 coats of clearcoat for the best result. This gives you enough layer thickness so that the clear coat will protect the color. Apply a first thin coat, also called a "pick coat," which provides adhesion. After this, spray 2 full coats of clear coat, giving the clear coat sufficient body.
