MIPA Winner Felgensilber silver rim paint in spraycan
MIPA Winner Felgensilber is a rim paint that is suitable for spraying your wheel rims in a silver aluminium colour. This paint has a high coverage, good adhesion and should be covered by clear coat afterwards. The product offers good rust protection, making this sprayable finish ideal for painting steel and aluminium wheels in a new silver metallic colour. It is a fast drying paint that should be covered with a 2K clear coat after 30 minutes for maximum protection.
Painting the rims. How do I do this?
Do you want to paint rims yourself, but you don't know how to do it? With the step-by-step plan below, you can spray your rims yourself with this silver rim paint.
- First sand the rim until the old paint has completely disappeared and the surface is bare. Use a P320 abrasive, for example.
- Clean the surface with a degreaser.
- Wipe the rim with a cloth or towel so that it is completely dry and free of dust.
- Use the aerosol at a temperature between 15 and 25°C.
- Shake the can vigorously before use until you hear the mixing beads move freely.
- Maintain a spray distance of 20-30 cm from the surface.
- Apply the rim finish in 2 to 3 full coats. Be careful! Do not apply too thick a coat to avoid sagging.
- Allow 5 minutes to evaporate between coats.
- After the last coat, you must let the paint harden.
- Finished spraying? Turn the can upside down and press the nozzle until only the propellant comes out. Now the nozzle is clean, and you can store the remaining product
- If you wish, you can now cover the rim paint with a clear coat.
Spraying steel rims
Do you want to spray steel rims? Then it is important that you first apply a corrosion-resistant primer to the rim that will prevent the steel from rusting in the future. Our advice is to use MIPA's rust inhibiting primer or epoxy primer beforehand to allow the rim paint to adhere well while providing good corrosion protection.

How do you remove adhesive residues
Are there adhesive residues on your car from a sticker or car wrap? Removing adhesive residues from the car can be tricky without damaging the paint. To remove adhesive residues without scratching, it’s best to use a caramel wheel. This is a rubber grinding wheel specifically designed to remove adhesive residues without damaging the car paint
Should clear coat be applied over car paint?
Yes, you should use clear coat over 1K automotive paint to protect the color. When buying clear coat, you have options such as high-gloss, satin, and matte, as well as 1K and 2K. 2K clear coat is the original factory high-gloss finish and is the most commonly chosen varnish.
How many layers of car paint should I apply?
The number of layers of automotive paint you need to apply depends on the coverage of the color. Usually, 3 layers are sufficient. However, for lighter color paints that have less coverage, we recommend applying an additional layer of color until you achieve the desired result.
How long should car paint cure?
The curing time for automotive paint depends on temperature, humidity, and layer thickness. At higher temperatures, the curing process is faster compared to lower temperatures. Additionally, 1K automotive paint dries faster than 2K automotive paint.
What is the drying time for car paint?
The drying time of automotive paint is determined by 3 factors: layer thickness, temperature, and humidity. We recommend monitoring this yourself until the paint is dust-dry. Once this is the case, the paint can be over-sprayed with clear coat or handled!
