Applying a 1K clear coat is easy, but preparation is essential for a tight end result. Follow the steps below to properly apply the clear coat.
- Clean the surface: Make sure the surface is free of grease and dust. Use a degreaser for this purpose.
- Sand if necessary: Is the surface matte or rough? Light sanding with a fine grit (e.g. P800 to P1000) ensures better adhesion.
- Apply in thin layers: Spray several thin coats instead of one thick coat. This will prevent drips and orange peel effect.
- Allow to dry in between coats: Maintain a drying time of about 5-10 minutes between coats.
- Allow to cure: After the last coat, the lacquer must cure thoroughly. This can vary from several hours to 24 hours, depending on the ambient temperature.
