Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the shelf life of clear varnish?

How long clear varnish stays good depends on how you store it. An unopened can and spray can of clear varnish stays good for years.

How many coats of clearcoat to apply?

Applying 2 coats of clearcoat is enough to have enough layer thickness. Do you want the clear coat to have more ‘body’? Then apply another layer of clear coat.

How much time between coats of clearcoat?

5 minutes time between coats of clearcoat is sufficient. By keeping a time of 5 minutes between coats of clearcoat, the varnish has enough time to evaporate.

What is 1K clearcoat?

1K clear coat is a fast-drying clear coat consisting of 1 component. A 1K clear coat can be ordered in spray cans and tins. In addition, a clear coat is available in high gloss, matt and satin.

How do you apply 1K clearcoat?

1K clear coat is applied in 2 to 3 layers. You also apply 1K clear coat with a spray can or sprayer. When applying 1K clear coat, make sure you maintain a spraying distance of 25 to 30 cm.

What is the difference between clearcoat and paint by colour?

The difference between clear lacquer and colour lacquer is that you spray a clear lacquer as a varnish over the colour lacquer. A clear varnish is transparent and a coloured varnish contains pigments that give the paint colour.

Which 1K lacquer is best?

Which 1K lacquer is best varies from user to user. Where some find water-based lacquer best, others find a conventional thinner lacquer best.

What is clear coat?

Clear coat is a transparent lacquer that you apply over a colour lacquer. This makes a clear coat the same as a varnish that protects the colour lacquer from scratches, discolouration by sunlight, impacts, weather, salt and more.

How do you apply clear coat?

Clear coat is applied with a spray can or a paint sprayer. There are several ways to apply clear coat. If you apply clear coat, make sure you apply at least 2 layers.

What is the difference between clear coat and transparent?

There is no difference between clear coat and transparent. A clear coat is transparent, which is why this varnish is also called a transparent varnish.

How many layers of clear coat should I apply?

Applying 2 layers of clear coat is enough to have enough layer thickness. Do you want the clear coat to have more ‘body’? Then apply another coat of clear coat.

How do you remove adhesive residues

Are there adhesive residues on your car from a sticker or car wrap? Removing adhesive residues from the car can be tricky without damaging the paint. To remove adhesive residues without scratching, it’s best to use a caramel wheel. This is a rubber grinding wheel specifically designed to remove adhesive residues without damaging the car paint

How much can I spray with a spray can?

A 400ml spray can covers approximately 1.5 to 2 m², depending on the material porosity and layer thickness. For larger projects or multiple layers, we recommend accounting for an extra 10% to ensure you don't run out halfway through.
