PPG Plastic Primer Can
PPG D820 Plastic Adhesion Promoter is a fast, transparent 1 pack primer suitable for use on the vast majority if paintable plastic substrates and avoids the need to identify the plastic prior to spraying.
Plastic primer for plastic substrates
Thorough preparation and cleaning are essential for the successful refinishing of plastic parts. The PPG plastic cleaning and preparation system is designed to produce the best performance from the adhesion promoter, undercoat and topcoat systems.
How do I prepare the plastic surface?
Sanding is recommended before spraying the plastic adhesion promoter. Sand the surface with P320 - P400 (dry). Prior and after any sanding operation, the substrate must be thoroughly degreased.
Flash off time PPG Plastic Primer
The drying time of PPG Plastic Primer depends on various factors such as paint layer thickness, temperature and humidity. PPG plastic promoter is fully cured at 20°C after 30 minutes.

Do you need to sand primer
Once the primer is dry, you need to sand it. Sanding the primer smooths the surface and lightly roughens the primer layer. This helps the color car paint or 2K paint adhere better to the primer. If you don’t sand the primer, the paint will not adhere as well to the base coat.
