HVLP Spray Guns

HVLP paint sprayers are one of the most used spray guns. HVLP stands for High Volume Low Pressure. In other words, it produces a high volume output while using very little pressure. It is easier to control the spray gun and you will be spending much less material while the car paint quality will be very high.

Benefits of HVLP

The popularity of HVLP sprayers has grown significantly since the inception of the technology. The acronym HVLP stands for high-volume, low-pressure, and this type of sprayer is used for air gun spraying. In general, air gun spraying can be defined as the process through which paint is applied using an air pressurized gun.

Disadvantages of HVLP

There are not many cons of HVLP sprayers. Compared to LVLP, HVLP is way slower. On the other hand, slow doesn't mean they are not high-quality. Additionally, you need to have a really big air compressor in order to make it work. This goes hand in hand with a higher price. 

Spray Gun Nozzle Tip Size

Nozzle size is another important factor to keep in mind. The thicker the paint used, the larger your gun nozzle should be. Choosing the right spray gun nozzle might seem like a difficult job. However, you'll achieve the best results when you refer to the paint manufacturers technical data sheets for that particular product you're spraying. 

A general rule of thumb is:

• 2K Car Spray Paint 1.3 to 1.4
• Clearcoat 1.2 to 1.4
• Primer 1.7 to 2.2
• Spray putty 2.5 to 3.0

Please keep in note that this is a general rule of thumb. Many car painters achieve outstanding results from unorthodox methods.

Air Cap

The air cap is the final component that determines how the spray is going to appear. It has holes drilled with precision and placed in such a way that they will produce the best spray pattern on the paint surface.
