MoTip Matt Black - Spray Paint

MoTip Matt Black spray paint in 500ml aerosol is an ultra black RAL 9005 color. The MoTip matt black paint provides a strong adhesion on different types of surfaces, including wood, metal, glass and plastic. This aerosol matt black lacquer paint contains high-quality pigments for a long lastig color and great coverage.

Do I have to use clear coat?

This black paint immediately provides the desired gloss level, high gloss or matt. Thanks to the high quality pigments, the paint is also resistant to UV light, weather influences, chemicals and petrol. If you would like to have an extra protection, it can be sprayed with the MoTip 1K clear coat.

Do I have to use a primer?

Depending on the surface, there is a different recommendation. If there is already paint on the surface, a primer is not necessary. Lightly sanding the surface is sufficient. Is the surface untreated? Then we recommend using a primer!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you remove adhesive residues

Are there adhesive residues on your car from a sticker or car wrap? Removing adhesive residues from the car can be tricky without damaging the paint. To remove adhesive residues without scratching, it’s best to use a caramel wheel. This is a rubber grinding wheel specifically designed to remove adhesive residues without damaging the car paint

How much can I spray with a spray can?

A 400ml spray can covers approximately 1.5 to 2 m², depending on the material porosity and layer thickness. For larger projects or multiple layers, we recommend accounting for an extra 10% to ensure you don't run out halfway through.

Should clear coat be applied over car paint?

Yes, you should use clear coat over 1K automotive paint to protect the color. When buying clear coat, you have options such as high-gloss, satin, and matte, as well as 1K and 2K. 2K clear coat is the original factory high-gloss finish and is the most commonly chosen varnish.

How many layers of car paint should I apply?

The number of layers of automotive paint you need to apply depends on the coverage of the color. Usually, 3 layers are sufficient. However, for lighter color paints that have less coverage, we recommend applying an additional layer of color until you achieve the desired result.

How long should car paint cure?

The curing time for automotive paint depends on temperature, humidity, and layer thickness. At higher temperatures, the curing process is faster compared to lower temperatures. Additionally, 1K automotive paint dries faster than 2K automotive paint.

What is the drying time for car paint?

The drying time of automotive paint is determined by 3 factors: layer thickness, temperature, and humidity. We recommend monitoring this yourself until the paint is dust-dry. Once this is the case, the paint can be over-sprayed with clear coat or handled!

When is this matte black spray can suitable for you?

For touching up smaller parts such as a mirror cap, spoiler, or bumper section in a uniform matte black shade. Handy if you want a neat, modern finish without full spray equipment.

  • Touching up a small part in matte black: Suitable for a mirror cap, spoiler, or bumper section. With thin layers and good preparation, you can evenly touch up a small surface without a compressor.
  • Plastic or metal that has already been neatly sanded and degreased: Works on metal and plastic, provided you first sand, degrease, and possibly use a primer. Then the paint adheres well and the matte finish remains sleek.
  • Less suitable for an entire car or large surfaces: Over an entire bodywork, you quickly get colour gradients and an uneven layer with a spray can. In that case, choose a compressor with a spray gun.
