Rust-Oleum Metal Expert Rust Converter - 250ml
Rust-Oleum Metal Expert Rust Converter
Rust-Oleum Metal Expert Rust Converter is a rust converter that neutralises rust and forms a solid anti-corrosion primer on which the next coating can be applied. The converter reacts chemically with the rust, neutralises it and forms a black, compact protective layer. Only use this product in combination with solvent-based finishes.
How do I use the Rust-Oleum Rust Converter?
- Remove really loose rust with a steel brush and test in an inconspicuous place first.
- Make sure the surface is completely degreased and dry to avoid adhesion problems.
- Stir well and apply with a brush. Allow the product to work well and completely penetrate all rusted areas. Completely cover surrounding areas to prevent residues or coatings from discolouring if they come into contact with the rust converter during use.
- Allow to dry at 20°C for at least 2 hours. From 4 hours after application, you can apply the next coating. Get the best result at room temperature with good ventilation.

Do you need primer over rust converter?
No, no primer is needed over a rust converter. As the name suggests, it encapsulates and transforms the rust into a primer-like layer, preventing further rusting of the surface. You can directly apply car paint, 2K paint, or a coating over a rust converter.
