Car Paint by Brand

Car paint by brand is automotive paint matched to your vehicle manufacturer and mixed to the original factory paint code. This page helps you find car paint by vehicle brand and paint code, not by paint manufacturer brand.

At CROP, you can order car paint for brands such as Volkswagen, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Jaguar, Land Rover and MINI. Choose the right product format for your repair: touch up pen, aerosol or paint tin.

Order car paint by your vehicle brand and paint code

Car paint by brand is custom mixed using the factory paint code and the correct finish. This makes it suitable for scratches, stone chips, bumper scuffs and other localised paint repairs.

To order the right paint, you usually need your vehicle brand and paint code. The colour name can be useful as an extra check, but the paint code is normally the most accurate reference.

  1. Choose your vehicle brand, such as Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz or Toyota.
  2. Find your paint code on the vehicle label, service book or manufacturer information plate.
  3. Choose your product type: touch up pen, aerosol spray or paint tin.

If you are unsure which product format you need, choose based on the size of the repair. A small chip needs a different solution from a bumper repair or full panel respray.

How to choose the right car paint by brand

Touch up pens for stone chips and fine scratches

A touch up pen is ideal for small stone chips, fine scratches, door edge damage and tiny localised marks. The integrated brush makes it easier to apply paint precisely to small areas.

For the best result, clean and degrease the area first. Depending on the paint system, you may also need primer or clear coat.

Aerosol car paint for bumpers, mirror caps and local repairs

An aerosol is a practical choice for bumper scuffs, mirror caps, small panels and larger local repairs. It gives wider coverage than a touch up pen and is suitable when you need a more even spray finish.

Use primer on bare plastic or metal where needed. Metallic and pearl colours usually require clear coat for gloss and protection.

Paint tins for spray gun application and larger jobs

Paint tins are suitable for spray gun application, panel work and larger refinishing jobs. This format gives more control for professional users and experienced DIY repairers.

For spray gun jobs, you may also need primer, clear coat, degreaser, masking materials and the correct safety equipment.

Complete your repair with touch up paint pens, spray cans, primers, clear coat and surface preparation products.

How to find your car paint code

A factory paint code is the manufacturer reference used to identify the original colour and finish of your vehicle. It is more reliable than the colour name alone, because many manufacturers use similar names for different paint formulas.

The location of the paint code differs by manufacturer. BMW, Toyota, Audi and Mercedes-Benz can all place the code in different areas depending on model and year.

Where to look first

  • Door shut: Often on a sticker or manufacturer plate.
  • Under the bonnet: Sometimes on a body plate or label.
  • Boot or spare wheel well: Common on some vehicle brands.
  • Glovebox: Sometimes used for vehicle information labels.
  • Service book: May include paint code and colour information.

If the sticker is missing or unreadable, check the service documentation or contact the vehicle manufacturer with your registration or VIN. For older cars or vehicles with previous repairs, a paint scan can be the better option.

Paint code, colour name or paint scan: what do you need?

The best reference depends on the vehicle, the information available and the condition of the existing paintwork.

  • Paint code: The preferred reference for ordering car paint by brand. It links to the original factory formula.
  • Colour name: Useful as an extra check, but usually not precise enough on its own.
  • Paint scan: Useful when the code is missing, the paint has faded, the vehicle has been resprayed or previous repairs are present.

Even with the correct factory paint code, older paintwork may have faded over time. Sun exposure, polishing history and previous repairs can all affect the real-world colour on the vehicle.

With a paint scanning service, a sample or painted part is measured using a spectrophotometer. This helps create a matched reference that can be used to order the correct paint format.

Use our colour matching or paint scanning service when the original code is unavailable or when a closer real-world match is needed.

Available finishes and paint systems

Solid colours are single-shade colours without metallic or pearl effect. They are often easier to repair and may be available in different paint systems depending on the product.

Metallic colours contain fine metallic particles that create sparkle and depth. These repairs usually need clear coat to protect the colour and create the correct gloss.

Pearl colours use special pigments to create depth and colour movement in the finish. Like metallic paint, pearl paint usually requires clear coat and careful application.

1K or 2K car paint?

1K car paint is often easier for many DIY touch-ups and basecoat repairs. 2K car paint is more durable, but it requires correct handling, activation and suitable PPE.

Always follow the product instructions and safety guidance, especially when using 2K products. For the right system, view our clear coat, 1K and 2K paint categories and safety products.

No paint code? Use our paint scanning service

Paint scanning is useful when there is no paint code, the label is missing, the vehicle has been resprayed or the paint has aged. It is especially relevant for restoration work, older cars and vehicles with visible fade.

A spectrophotometer measures a painted sample or part from multiple angles. This information is used to create a matched reference designed to achieve a close real-world match.

After scanning, you receive a matched reference that can be used to order the right format, such as a touch up pen, aerosol or paint tin.
