Which grit to sand paint layers?

When sanding paint layers, it's important to choose the right grit. To remove an old paint layer, you can start with a grit of 120 to 180 for effective removal. For between layers or if you want a smooth finish, use a grit of 240 to 320. Complete the finishing with a fine grit of 400 or higher for the best result. Always sand in the direction of the grain for an optimal finish!
