How do I use VHT heat resistant paint?
Step 1: Prep the surface
Prepare surface by removing all loose paint, dirt, rust, grease, wax, etc. For best results use a quality grease and wax remover to clean the surface. Scuff the surface by using a scuff pad, wire brush or equivalent. Wipe down the surface again with a grease and wax remover, then let dry.
Step 2: Masking off
If needed, mask-off surrounding areas not intended for application. Use at temperatures between 60°F (16°C) and 95°F (35°C) and when humidity is less than 60%.
Step 3: Application
Thoroughly shake and stir contents to a uniform consistency. It has been formulated to be applied by HVLP spray gun. No reduction needed. Note: All spray guns may apply differently. Always spray a separate test panel first and follow spray gun directions carefully. Holding the gun 6-8'' from the substrate, overlap each stroke by 50% to maintain a wet edge. Apply all coats within 1 hour, allowing 10 minutes between each coat. For additional coats after 1 hour, wait 7 days for paint to cure. Dries to the touch in 1 hour. Can be handled in 3 hours.
Step 4: Curing
After paint is completely dry it must be cured to substantially increase the durability of the finish and enhance chemical resistance. Finish is not chemical resistant until cured.
Off the vehicle
Bake at 250°F (121°C) for 30 minutes then let cool for 30 minutes. Bake at 400°F (204°C) for 30 minutes then let cool for 30 mintues. CAUTION: Do not exceed the heat tolerance of the least heat tolerant part.
On the vehicle
Run at idle for 10 minutes then cool for 20 minutes. Run at idle for 20 minutes then let cool for 20 minutes. Run under normal operating conditions for 30 minutes then let cool.
Step 5: Clean-Up
After application, clean tools with Acetone/Xylene.

What is the drying time for car paint?
The drying time of automotive paint is determined by 3 factors: layer thickness, temperature, and humidity. We recommend monitoring this yourself until the paint is dust-dry. Once this is the case, the paint can be over-sprayed with clear coat or handled!
