Description

Rust-Oleum 769 Damp-Proof Rust Primer Red Brown

Rust-Oleum 769 Moisture-Resistant Rust Primer is a red-brown 1K primer based on fish oil alkyd binder for direct application to slightly damp or dry metal substrates. For best results, we recommend removing existing rust and then treating the metal with this anti-corrosion primer.

Anti rust primer

Rust-Oleum's anti-rust primer is specifically designed to be applied to hand-decorated, possibly slightly damp, steel surfaces and provides protection up to C4 exposure (ISO 12944). Rust-Proof primer is a primer that protects metal from rusting after treatment. Because this primer is anti-corrosion, it protects metal, steel and aluminum from corrosion.

How do I use Rust-Oleum's anti-corrosion primer?

Temperature of air, substrate and coating material between 5 and 35°C and relative humidity below 85%. Temperature of substrate must be at least 3°C above dew point. The anti-rust primer can be applied by brush, roller or (airless) paint sprayer.

  1. Remove oil, grease and all other contaminants by alkaline or high-pressure (steam) cleaning in combination with suitable agents.
  2. Remove rust crusts, loose rust, loose roller skin and loose paint layers by means of scraper and/or wire brush up to St 2 (ISO 8501-1 : 1988).
  3. Sand intact, old paint layers to ensure good adhesion. During application the surface must be clean and preferably dry.
