PPG 2K Wash Primer is an etching primer with excellent adhesion, combined with fantastic corrosion protection on all surfaces. 2K PPG wash primer adheres well to surfaces such as bare or painted metal, galvanized steel, aluminum, zinc, polyester filler and aged painted surfaces. 

2K Etch Primer

PPG Wash Primer is a beige 2K etch primer and promotes adhesion over a wide range of substrates, but it should not be used as an isolator itself or over an isolator. Universel may be used in a wet-on-wet system if required and may be overcoated with most types of PPG 2K Primers.

How do I prepare the surface?

• Aged painted surfaces: P280 to P320 (dry) or P400 and P500 (wet)
• Bare steel: P80 to P120 (dry)
• Galvanised steel: P400 (dry)
• Zintec: Scotch-brite
• Aluminium & alloys: P280 to P320 (dry)
• Polyester filler: P80 to P120 (dry)
• Electropaint: P360 (dry) or P800 (wet)

Flash off time PPG 2K Wash Primer

The drying time of PPG Wash Primer depends on various factors such as paint layer thickness, temperature and humidity. PPG etching primer is dust-free in 5 minutes and dry to sand at 20°C between 20 - 30 minutes.

Technical Data PPG 2K Wash Primer

• Spray-gun nozzle: 1,4mm - 1,6mm
• Number of coats: 2 to 3 (15 to 25 micron)
• Flash off at 20°C between coats: 5 to 10 minutes
• Spray viscosity at 20°C: 16 seconds DIN4
• Potlife at 20°C: 24 hours

PPG activator

This product must always be catalysed with its own PPG Activator D832. The mixing ratio with PPG Wash Primer is 1:1.
