Do I need a primer?
A primer is only necessary when the surface is untreated. If there is already a varnish on it in good condition, a primer is not necessary and just light sanding is sufficient. Is the old paint layer peeling off the surface or is the substrate completely bare? Then it is necessary to spray a primer that ensures the adhesion of the white pearl lacquer. Which primer you need? Check out our overview below.
- Plastic or plastic: plastic primer.
- Metal or iron: 2K epoxy primer
- Aluminum: 1K or 2K epoxy primer
- Galvanized steel: 2K epoxy primer
- Stainless steel: 1K filler primer
Spray the pearlescent paint white with clear coat
Have you sprayed the pearlescent paint white opaque and are you satisfied with the result? Then you need to spray the pearlescent paint white with a clear coat. 2K clear coat is a protective layer that protects the pearl white color from scratches, impacts, weather, gasoline and other outside influences. How do you remove adhesive residues
Are there adhesive residues on your car from a sticker or car wrap? Removing adhesive residues from the car can be tricky without damaging the paint. To remove adhesive residues without scratching, it’s best to use a caramel wheel. This is a rubber grinding wheel specifically designed to remove adhesive residues without damaging the car paint
How much can I spray with a spray can?
A 400ml spray can covers approximately 1.5 to 2 m², depending on the material porosity and layer thickness. For larger projects or multiple layers, we recommend accounting for an extra 10% to ensure you don't run out halfway through.
Should clear coat be applied over car paint?
Yes, you should use clear coat over 1K automotive paint to protect the color. When buying clear coat, you have options such as high-gloss, satin, and matte, as well as 1K and 2K. 2K clear coat is the original factory high-gloss finish and is the most commonly chosen varnish.
How many layers of car paint should I apply?
The number of layers of automotive paint you need to apply depends on the coverage of the color. Usually, 3 layers are sufficient. However, for lighter color paints that have less coverage, we recommend applying an additional layer of color until you achieve the desired result.
How long should car paint cure?
The curing time for automotive paint depends on temperature, humidity, and layer thickness. At higher temperatures, the curing process is faster compared to lower temperatures. Additionally, 1K automotive paint dries faster than 2K automotive paint.
What is the drying time for car paint?
The drying time of automotive paint is determined by 3 factors: layer thickness, temperature, and humidity. We recommend monitoring this yourself until the paint is dust-dry. Once this is the case, the paint can be over-sprayed with clear coat or handled!
