Gtechniq Panel Wipe degreaser for ceramic coating

The Gtechniq Panel Wipe is a powerful paint degreaser and panel wipe specifically developed to perfectly prepare car paint for the application of a ceramic coating. The formula effectively removes polishing oils, polish, and other residual contaminants, ensuring that a coating can optimally bond with the paint. After evaporation, it leaves a completely clean and decontaminated surface, ideal as the final step after polishing and before coating.

Removing polish residue and polishing oils

After polishing, oils and residues from polishes can remain on the car paint. These can negatively affect the adhesion of a ceramic coating. Gtechniq Panel Wipe consists of a carefully formulated combination of pure alcohols and solvents that dissolve and remove polish residue. The product then evaporates quickly from the surface, ensuring the paint is optimally prepared for a coating.

Ideal preparation for Gtechniq ceramic coatings

A thoroughly degreased surface is essential when you want to achieve maximum performance from a ceramic paint coating. Panel Wipe ensures that chemically bonding coatings can form as many connections with the car paint as possible. The product is specifically developed for modern clear coats and according to Gtechniq, it can also be safely used on softer paint types, including Japanese paints and GM paints, without damaging the surface.

How do you use Gtechniq Panel Wipe?

Allow the car paint to cool completely and shake the bottle well before use. Wear suitable gloves and spray Panel Wipe onto a clean microfiber cloth. Carefully wipe the surface with it and then use a second dry microfiber cloth to ensure no residue remains. Test the product in advance on a small and inconspicuous part of the paint. Do not use Panel Wipe on PPF, vinyl, plastic, or rubber and avoid use on smart repairs and repainted parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I use to degrease?

You can degrease using a degreasing agent or cleaning product. These are special products designed to remove grease from paint, coatings, or surfaces.

Can I degrease with brake cleaner?

Although people use brake cleaner for degreasing, we do not recommend it. Brake cleaner contains acids that can cause paint to crack, chip, or react. Always use a high-quality degreaser instead.

How to degrease car paint?

To degrease car paint, you'll need a degreaser specifically designed for automotive surfaces. First, apply the degreaser to the car paint using one cloth. Then, use a second clean cloth to wipe off the degreaser. This process ensures that the surface is thoroughly cleaned and free of grease, making it ready for further treatment or painting. Always use two cloths—one for application and the other for removal—to ensure the best results.

Does a rust converter need a primer?

No, a primer is not required over a rust converter. As the name suggests, the rust converter encapsulates the rust and transforms it into a layer that acts like a primer, preventing further rusting. You can apply automotive paint, 2K paint, varnish, or a coating directly over a rust converter
