- Car paint with moderate scratches or oxidation: Where a medium foam pad falls just short, this microfiber disc tackles the correction faster without immediately resorting to a wool pad. Suitable for removing swirls and light to moderate paint defects on an orbital machine.
- Gelcoat on boats or campers: On dull or slightly oxidized gelcoat, the microfiber structure works effectively and safely. The disc cuts enough to remove the top layer of oxidation, provided you keep the RPM low and clean the disc regularly.
- Less suitable for deep scratches or heavy correction: For scratches that go through the clear coat or heavily weathered surfaces, a wool polishing disc is more aggressive, and wet sanding or professional correction is often required. This microfiber disc is intended for the subsequent correction step, not for rough preparatory work.
