Zinsser Peel Stop is an advanced primer developed to stop and prevent flaking and peeling of paint coats. This special primer focuses on repairing damaged surfaces by improving the adhesion of peeling paint and preventing further flaking.

Painting over flaking paint

Peel Stop works by creating a firm and flexible film over damaged areas, creating a solid base for new coats of paint. In fact, the primer acts as a bridging primer to fill cracks and prevent the topcoat from cracking. Peel Stop can be overpainted with any water- and solvent-based primer. The primer is compatible with various surfaces, such as wood, drywall, plaster and masonry, and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Cracks in paint

Even after scraping and sanding painted surfaces, small cracks and gaps remain under the edges of old paintwork. This flexible primer seeps into these spaces and glues/welds them shut, creating a solid base that prevents future flaking of the finish. While Zinsser Peel Stop is very effective in repairing and protecting damaged surfaces, it is important to remember that it does not provide a complete solution for severely damaged or neglected surfaces. Such situations may require additional preparation before applying Peel Stop.
