1K and 2K car paint: which paint do you choose?

When working with car paint it is important to know when you use 1K or 2K car paint. Here are the main differences:

• 1K paint – single-component paint that dries by evaporation. Easy to apply and suitable for quick jobs. Less durable than 2K and, for metallic colours, it always needs a clear coat.
• 2K paint – two-component paint that cures through a chemical reaction. Very durable and scratch-resistant, ideal for professional use with optimal protection, but it requires the correct mixing ratio and hardener.

Tip from the CROP specialist: with metallic paint always use a 1K base coat followed by a 2K clear coat for optimal protection and gloss.
