What is a viscometer used for?

A viscometer is used when thinning lacquer or paint. Using a viscosity cup, you can measure exactly the right viscosity, the thickness of paint. The technical data sheet of each lacquer lists the recommended viscosity in number of seconds. After you use the viscometer, it can be easily cleaned with water (water-based paint) or thinner (conventional paint).

How to use the viscometer?

To use the viscometer correctly, follow the steps below.

1. Dip the viscosity cup into the paint until it fills with paint.
2. Then lift the viscosity cup.
3. Measure the time (number of seconds) until a jet of paint has run through the funnel.
4. Check the number of seconds with the viscosity table in the paint's technical data sheet.
5. After use, clean the viscosity cup with thinner or water.
